Will Mexico's Finance Ministry Publish the Digital-Payment-Only Sectors Before December 31, 2026?

Market context

Congress passed the Digital Economy Law for Digital and Electronic Payments. Once it takes effect, the Finance Ministry has 15 working days to name the sectors where only digital payment can be required, such as gas stations and toll booths. Will it publish them this year?

• How it resolvesResolves Yes if, between the date and time this market's status changes to open on Pálpito and December 31, 2026 at 23:59 Mexico City time (05:59:00 UTC on January 1, 2027), the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) publishes, in the Official Gazette of the Federation or in an official document on its site gob.mx/shcp, the determination of the sectors or activities in which digital or electronic payment may be the only accepted form of payment, under the Digital Economy Law for Digital and Electronic Payments (under that name or another). It is enough that the determination names at least one sector or activity. Announcements at press conferences, interviews or on social media, without the official document, do not count. If the law is not published or does not take effect within the period, it resolves No. Resolves No in any other case. Trading in this market closes on December 31, 2026 at 23:59 Mexico City time (05:59:00 UTC on January 1, 2027); the result is decided by the events up to the deadline, even if they become known after the close.
