This page explains what it costs to use Pálpito and how each fee is calculated. There is a fee only when money moves: when you trade and when you withdraw. If something changes, we update this page.
| What | Fee |
|---|---|
| Buy or sell in a market | Follows the formula below. Today the rate is 0 in every market. |
| Cancel an order that did not execute | Free |
| When a market resolves | Free. If your position pays, you receive the full payout. |
| Deposit | No Pálpito fee. The payment provider can charge its own. |
| Withdraw | 1 USD per withdrawal. The payment provider can charge its own. |
| Network fees | Pálpito can cover them |
You pay a fee only when your order executes. If you leave an order in the book and cancel it before someone takes it, you pay nothing.
The formula is:
fee = rate × number of contracts × price × (1 − price)
The result is rounded up to the cent.
The price is what one contract costs, between 0.01 and 0.99 USD. Each contract pays 1 USD if the result proves you right, so the price is also the probability the market gives to that result: a price of 0.60 is 60%.
The part price × (1 − price) makes the fee highest when the result is most uncertain (a price of 0.50, or 50%) and almost zero when it is almost decided (0.01 or 0.99).
| Order type | When it applies | Standard rate |
|---|---|---|
| Taker | Your order executes immediately against orders that are already in the book. | 0.07 |
| Maker | You leave a limit order in the book and someone else executes it later. | 0.0175 |
The maker rate is one quarter of the taker rate. This rewards people who leave orders in the book, because that lets everyone trade at better prices. Whether your order is a taker or a maker is decided when it executes, not when you create it, and it applies the same way when you buy and when you sell.
These are the standard rates. Some markets can have a different rate. Before you confirm any order, you see the exact fee for that trade.
Pálpito partners and market makers can have their own terms, according to their program.
| Price (probability) | Cost of the contracts | Taker fee | Maker fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.01 or 0.99 (1% or 99%) | 1 or 99 USD | 0.07 USD | 0.02 USD |
| 0.05 or 0.95 (5% or 95%) | 5 or 95 USD | 0.34 USD | 0.09 USD |
| 0.10 or 0.90 (10% or 90%) | 10 or 90 USD | 0.63 USD | 0.16 USD |
| 0.20 or 0.80 (20% or 80%) | 20 or 80 USD | 1.12 USD | 0.28 USD |
A full example: you buy 100 contracts at 0.50 and your order executes immediately. The fee is 0.07 × 100 × 0.50 × 0.50 = 1.75 USD, on 50 USD of contracts. The fee is the same at a price and at its opposite (0.10 and 0.90).
Some operations require a blockchain network fee. The network sets that fee, not Pálpito. Today Pálpito can cover it as part of the service, without this being a permanent commitment. The details are in the Terms and Conditions.
We can change our fees. When we do, we update this page and, when needed, we tell you first. The fee you see before you confirm a trade is the one that applies.
