Will Canelo announce his next fight before December 31?

Market context

Canelo became WBC champion again by beating Mbilli in Riyadh. Now the question is who he fights next and when. In past years he announced his May fight in January or February. Will he do it before the year ends?

Resolution criteria

• How it resolvesResolves Yes if, between the opening of this market and December 31, 2026, 23:59 Mexico City time, the next professional fight of Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez is officially announced, with his opponent and its date (at least the month). Only an announcement published by one of these sources counts: Canelo's verified official accounts (Instagram @canelo, X @Canelo), Turki Alalshikh's verified official X account, the official Riyadh Season accounts, or the official WBC website (wbcboxing.com). A post from any of them that names the opponent and the month counts as an announcement. Press reports without one of those sources, rumors, negotiations, statements of intent without an opponent and a date, and a WBC order for a mandatory defense do not count. An exhibition does not count. The publication time of the first official post counts, in Mexico City time. Resolves No if there is no such announcement within that period. If the announced fight is later cancelled, it is still Yes. Corrections published after the resolution do not change it. Only what happens after this market opens counts. If the announcement had already occurred before this market opened, it resolves No. Primary source: the official sources listed above. Backup: ESPN.
