Does Congress Pass the General Law on Feminicide Before December 31, 2026?

Market context

In April 2026 Congress passed the constitutional reform empowering it to legislate on feminicide at the national level, and set a 180-day deadline to issue the secondary general law. That deadline falls around October. The enabling reform already passed: what is missing is the law itself. This market tracks only that, whether the general law is published before the year ends.

Resolution criteria

• How it resolvesResolves Yes if both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate pass, and it is published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, the secondary general law on feminicide (the General Law on Feminicide or a law with an equivalent name that regulates the 2026 constitutional reform to Article 73), on or before December 31, 2026, 23:59 Mexico City time (05:59:00 UTC on January 1, 2027). The constitutional reform to Article 73 passed in April 2026, which only empowers Congress to legislate, does not count as Yes: it must be the secondary general law on the matter. Resolves No if that law is not published before that date, whether because it is not passed by both chambers or because it remains in the legislative process.
